Barrow's growth as the 4th fastest growing county in the State of Georgia stresses the need for retail/commercial enterprises. Barrow Crossing, a power center with anchors to include Belk and Target, and the Gateways, a commercial development, are located along University Parkway (Ga Hwy 316) near Bethlehem and Winder (the county seat). Auburn Station, a mixed use development to include shopping, office, and residential components is planned near the city of Auburn.
