With the impressive number of bio-technology and life science firms in the Metro Atlanta area, it is fitting that the Barrow community would include this industry field among their targets. We understand that there are technologies emerging within this sector and are preparing our local workforce to meet the demand. Additional strength to the local educational resources is the connectivity that Barrow County Schools has with major research institutions. As a National K-12 Research District, Barrow County Schools maintains Direct-To-Discovery partnerships with Georgia State, Georgia Institute of Technology and University of Georgia that leverage Internet2 connectivity to bring state luminaries in fields as diverse as biomedical, industrial, and nanotechnology directly into our classrooms using HD video conferencing and remote access technologies.
